How Simple Self Assessment Works

Most people tell us that the reason they hate doing their own tax return, is the unnecessary tax jargon, which makes it all seem way too complicated. So we’ve decided to get rid of all the unnecessary tax language and replace it with a simplified, Do-It-Yourself tax return.

No fancy, over complicated stuff, And it works beautifully on mobile, tablet or desktop. And because what you see is what you get, we’ve called it the Simple Self-Assessment!

Transcript

When you first sign into the Simple Self Assessment you will arrive at the dashboard - here you will see the status of your current year's tax return.

You will also be asked to complete your profile set up, with information such as Government gateway ID - This information will be needed to submit your tax return.

Once you select the tax year you would like to work on, you will be taken to the Simple Self Assessment Pages, where you can fill in details about

  • Employment income

  • Property Income

  • Income from Self Employment

And any other relevant tax information that you may need to include.

If you would then like to submit to HMRC you will then be redirected to APARI’s payment system to pay a one off fee.

Once payment has been processed, you will be shown your full tax calculation - check through all of the information carefully - but don’t panic if you have made a mistake, you can always go back and change anything before clicking submit!

Once you are happy with your calculation, check and confirm the declaration at the bottom of the page and press submit! You can download a copy of your submitted calculation for your records

And that's it! Congratulations, you have submitted  your Tax Return for another year!

We can’t cater for every complex tax scenario, but when you sign up, you’ll be asked to check this.
